At Edens Garden, we believe in loving and appreciating your body just as it is. That’s why we work hard to formulate products that enhance your natural self rather than doctor to change it. Feeling good about your body and yourself shouldn’t have to be hard work.

Cellulite may not concern you in the slightest, in which case, let it ride. But if you're bothered by the sight of small dimples on your body, we have good news. Essential oils, along with other treatments like a coffee scrub, can be powerful in lessening the appearance of cellulite.

Have you noticed uneven dimples on your thighs, hips, buttocks and arms? This bumpy skin is called cellulite and it makes the surface of your skin appear dimpled. It's perfectly harmless and occurs when collections of fats push against the connective tissue under your skin.

Before we discuss how you can get rid of cellulite, let's look at its underlying causes.

What Causes Cellulite?

Although the exact cause of cellulite is unknown, there are some indications of how it forms. Cellulite develops based on various factors including genetics, skin structure, body type, muscle tone, weight and skin texture according to the Mayo Clinic.

As we age, our skin loses elasticity which can cause cellulite to show more noticeably. Women are also more likely to develop cellulite. Roughly 80%-90% of women experience cellulite according to recent research.

Fat cells and tissue are structured vertically in women whereas men develop a criss-cross structure of fat cells and tissues. The vertical structure appears more pronounced.

Cellulite Risk Factors

  • Weight gain
  • Inactivity
  • Pregnancy
  • Genetics
  • Hormones
  • Poor circulation
  • Unhealthy diet

    How To Reduce Cellulite

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, one of the best ways to battle cellulite is with regular exercise. Their experts say replacing fat with muscle can make cellulite less noticeable.

One study identified numerous essential oils as common remedies for cellulite. The list includes Grapefruit, Juniper Berry, Fennel and Cypress.

We formulated our Cellulite synergy blend with the most powerful essential oils to tackle cellulite and other skin conditions. Because of the immense popularity of the essential oil blend, we formulated our Cellulite body/massage Oil. Massaging the oil in problem areas morning and night can help rejuvenate lackluster skin or prevent future skin conditions.

Essential Oil Sugar Scrub for Cellulite

Scrubbing with grainy, coarse sugar helps to remove dead skin, leaving you with softer, healthier skin. Coconut oil is also known for its naturally nourishing properties. You can also add coffee grounds to your scrub to give it an extra kick. The caffeine in the coffee can help further stimulate the skin and exfoliate to reveal glowing skin.

    What you need:

    8 oz. Glass Jar

1 cup Brown Sugar or White Sugar

    ⅓ cup Fractionated Coconut

    12 drops Cellulite

    Directions:

    1. In a large mixing bowl, combine Sugar, Coconut carrier oil, and add in Cellulite blend
    2. With a wooden spoon, stir all of your natural ingredients together until thoroughly blended
    3. Scoop out your scrub into container and store in a dry, cool place.

Note: Be sure to avoid any water from getting into the jar to prevent contamination.

How To Use Your Essential Oil Sugar Scrub

    1. Hop in the shower and cleanse your body with soap and water before applying your scrub.
    2. Apply a generous amount of your body scrub to damp skin on the areas where you see cellulite (or want to prevent it).
    3. Massage the scrub into your skin in a circular motion for about 30 seconds.
    4. Rinse thoroughly to replenish skin and remove dead skin cells.
    5. After you've rinsed your scrub and toweled dry, we recommend applying a nourishing body moisturizer like a shea butter lotion or Vanilla Sandalwood body oil.

Hi Robin! A popular natural preservative is Leucidal Liquid, also known as Radish Root Ferment. The manufacturer should be able to provide usage instructions 😊

Could I add a preservative to this just in case water accidentally gets in it when scooping it out of the jar? If so, what would be a good preservative? Thanks!

Hi Melissa, we recommend adding 1/2 cup of ground coffee to this recipe.
