This or That: Repel Vs. Pest Defy

It’s always a joy meeting outdoor-loving folks while camping, hiking, sunbathing on the beach or picnicking at the park. Unless they’re bugs. Unfortunately, insects love hanging out with people more than we appreciate their company. To all of you bugs out there, be gone! If asking isn’t enough, EG has just the thing.

Repel synergy blend is a protective combination of Ylang Ylang, Nootka Tree, Cedarwood, Catnip, Lemon Eucalyptus, Litsea, Arborvitae and Vanilla. Unlike over the counter bug sprays, Repel has an earthy aroma that people will love but bugs will find unbearable. Stay protected from unwelcome insects with Repel synergy blend.

This or That: Repel Vs. Pest Defy

Repel and Pest Defy were both created to ban bugs, so how does one decide between these two protective blends? Pest Defy is a simple blend with classic bug repelling EOs like Citronella essential oil. EG has remained bug-free on our outdoor adventures over the years with Pest Defy. Repel was formulated with new oils to Edens Garden, such as Nootka Tree and Catnip. We added Catnip as it has been found to be one of the most effective essential oils in repelling bugs naturally. Nepetalactone, a major constituent of Catnip, is currently trying to be produced synthetically by chemists as a replacement for DEET in many commercial bug sprays.

At EG, we understand everyone is different which is why we’ve formulated multiple blends that target the same issue. No matter which one you choose, both Repel and Pest Defy will defend against insects, making your outdoor experience a great one.

Also, we recommend that you see our Bug Bite Relief, essential oil for bug bites.

Hi Kim! Here’s a recipe for you: in a glass spray bottle, add 2 tablespoons 190-proof alcohol, 24 drops Pest Defy. Combine and let sit for a few hours before adding 3 oz distilled water. Shake to combine and spray.

Hi Marsha! Any carrier oil will do, but if you’re looking for a carrier oil with additional insect-repelling benefits, Neem is a good option. Please note that Neem has a very potent aroma.

Hi Charli! You can diffuse these blends but it’s more effective to apply the blend topically or put it around windows and doors to keep bugs away.

Is it possible to diffuse one of these in the house to keep them away? Are they safe and effective when diffused?

Hi Cassy! Grain alcohol is one that is 190-proof. Everclear is a popular brand of grain alcohol. An alternative to grain alcohol would be a solubilizer such as Polysorbate 20 and a preservative such as Leuicdal Liquid.

What constitutes a grain alcohol? Will rubbing alcohol work?

Hi Jackie! You can combine 30 drops Pest Defy and 1 ounce of carrier oil, or you can combine 30 drops Pest Defy + 1.5 tsp grain alcohol + 4.5 tsp of distilled water. Essential oils can also eat away at plastic, so the spray bottle would need to be made of PET plastic or glass.

Hi Grace! We don’t suggest using essential oils to remove bed bugs. If the hotel is responsible, they may be able to reimburse you for professional bed bug removal.

Coming back from a trip, I found bedbugs were brought home from the hotel I stayed. Which one will you recommend to use: Pest Defy or ???
