Kokum Butter Balm DIY

Everyone loves a good moisturizing balm. It protects the skin while healing and restoring. Simple balms contain oil and wax, but with the addition of a butter and essential oils, you also receive the added benefits of an emollient, humectant and skin conditioning occlusive.

High in oleic and stearic fatty acids, Kokum butter is all that and a bag of chips. It’s a lighter butter than shea and cocoa and does all of the above, while also acting as an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agent.

With summer on the way, and healthy skin a must, our formulators decided to make our own multi-purpose, kokum body balm recipe. We’ve added Safflower carrier oil for its additional emollient and skin conditioning properties, as well as Bergamot and Blue Tansy for their cicatrisant, antibacterial properties, and wonderful rich aromas. Here’s how to make your very own Kokum body balm.

What you need

1 oz Kokum butter

1 Tbsp Safflower oil

1 Tbsp Soy wax

12 drops Bergamot

6 drops Blue Tansy

Tins
