Why Coconut Wax Makes the Best Candles

Why Coconut Wax Makes the Best Candles

We’ve come a long way since the Egyptians invented the first wax candles over 7,000 years ago. Back then, a candle was little more than a papyrus reed dipped in beeswax. While candles weren’t yet at their honeyed best back then, the initial idea formed by Ancient Egyptians gave way to the pursuit of the perfect candle. A pursuit, might we add, that has been going strong for every one of the last 7,000 years.

While the search for the perfect candle hasn’t come to an end, there are better candles than others. Soy, palm, paraffin — they all have their upsides, sure. But the candle wax that has the greatest upside-to-downside ratio? Coconut. Lucky you, that’s the only type of wax we at EG use in our candles!

You might be thinking, “What makes coconut wax so great?” With so many options to choose from, it’s a valid question. Join us as we count the ways coconut makes the best candles.

Environmentally Kind

For starters, coconut wax has a very low environmental impact. Whereas other waxes leave behind a large environmental footprint, coconut is a sustainable ingredient to farm and green to extract. Basically, you can enjoy the amazing aroma of your coconut wax candle without feeling guilty about how it came to be in your home. That sounds like reason enough to switch to coconut wax candle, but it gets better.

Slow Burn, Great Aroma

While being kind to nature, coconut wax also burns slowly and cleanly while tossing its aroma well, too. Basically, coconut gives you more proverbial bang for your buck. While other candles burn up their wax in a couple of hours, you can relax knowing that your coconut wax is going to hang in there for a while. Plus, when you’ve got an EG candle, you get the benefit of both coconut wax’s longevity and the aromatherapeutic properties we infuse in our candles.

The Bottom Line

The bottom line is that coconut-wax candles are toxin-free, kind to the environment, slow-burning and can really throw an aroma with the best of them. And, remember, coconut wax only gets better when it comes from EG, as all of our candles offer the benefits of aromatherapy. The world may still be in search of the ideal candle, and we at EG are in hot pursuit of that goal! Check out some of our favorite coconut-wax candles below.

Hi Susan! The coconut wax in our candle collection does not contain soy, palm, paraffin or any petrochemicals. Rather, it is a blend of coconut oil and coconut triglycerides. We are a vegan, cruelty-free company and have therefore chosen to forgo the use of beeswax.

Almost all coconut wax is not just coconut but a blend of soy or other vegetable oils and may include paraffin! It is a highly processed wax leaving the carbon footprint questionable. Beewax on the other hand is notmixed nor highly processed.
