Luckily, this multi-faceted oil is able to assist with symptoms of hormone imbalance such as joint pain and swelling, aches, soreness and headaches. To use Vitex for hormone balance, inhale it using an essential oil diffuser or apply it topically. For topical use, dilute Vitex to 1% by combining 6 drops essential oil and 1 oz carrier oil. Is Vitex essential oil safe for men?
  • Some believe that Vitex essential oil is harmful to men and should not be used by them at all. However, we have found little to no evidence of this in our research. Most studies involving Vitex do study its effects in women, but this does not mean that men cannot benefit from this oil as well. For example, Vitex oil’s ability to improve mood, reduce inflammation, enhance sleep and increase focus are all ways men can enjoy this healing essential oil as well. Please note that Vitex oil is not recommended for use by those pregnant and nursing and by children.
Does Vitex essential oil help with fertility?
  • It is currently unknown whether Vitex essential oil helps or harms fertility. Research and studies have proven mixed. One research study examined 43 studies on the effects of Vitex on male and female infertility and concluded that Vitex can improve fertility. A 2022 animal study looked at the effect of Vitex on the fertility, pregnancy and birth of its subjects. The study concluded with mixed results. Therefore, we recommend using Vitex with caution if planning to get pregnant. Note also that Vitex is not recommended to be used by those who are pregnant or nursing. Does Vitex increase estrogen?
  • Vitex has not been shown to increase estrogen, but it has been known to increase the activity of estrogen receptors in animal studies. This has been shown to support symptoms of menopause, such as absentmindedness. To use Vitex for menopause, dilute it to 2% by combining 12 drops with 1 oz carrier oil. Apply to pulse points, the abdomen and the back of the neck. Vitex can also be diffused by adding 10 drops to 100 ml of water in an essential oil diffuser. Alternatively, try Me-No-Pause essential oil blend.

PMS: Add 6 drops Vitex, 6 drops Clary Sage and 6 drops Lavender to 1 oz of Fenugreek carrier oil. Have a partner massage onto back, hips and rub onto abdomen.
