What is Ledum essential oil?
  • Ledum essential oil, Ledum groenlandicum in Latin and also known as Greenland Moss and Labrador Tea, has been used traditionally for centuries by indigenous people in North America to balance and support spiritual and emotional energy. It has a somewhat peppery aromatic that is earthy, fresh and medicinal. It's particularly useful to reset any anxiety and calm the mind and bring relaxation after a hectic day. It does well in massage oil blends to support the immune system. It is noted for its ability to ease insomnia, quell nervous spirit and aid with thyroid imbalance.
Can you ingest Ledum essential oil?
  • Essential oils are powerful, concentrated substances so a little goes a long way. Two of the most effective ways to use them is by way of inhalation and topical use. Ingesting Ledum essential oil is rarely necessary or recommended, no matter the brand. Ingestion can lead to adverse reactions such as medication contraindications, mucous membrane irritation, sensitization and nausea if done incorrectly. Therefore, if you wish to take essential oils internally, we strongly recommend consulting with a knowledgeable professional with experience in internal use.
How to use Ledum essential oil for liver?
  • According to Dr. Kurt Schnaubelt, Dr. Giraud-Robert is a French physician and Aromatherapist who in 2009 presented a study on liver function for those going through various treatments for cancer, Hep B and C patients and autoimmune diseases. Those who used essential oil treatments had a significantly higher survival rate than those without. According to Dr. Giraud-Robert the oil counteracts blood toxicity and reduces elevated liver enzyme counts. Ledum is recommended by Dr. Schnaubelt for liver and kidney detoxification.
How to use Ledum essential oil for thyroid issues?
  • There is scant evidence to demonstrate that using Ledum essential oil will help to improve thyroid function. However, as it creates a path to detoxify the liver, this in turn brings about a better balanced system that includes kidney function, adrenal function and balances other hormone organs throughout the body. With a stronger liver and balance of hormones, there might be a case that a stronger thyroid would ensue but research studies would need to prove this claim.
