Frequently Asked Questions
What essential oil is most helpful for the respiratory system?
  • Several oils aid with respiratory support in different ways. Some help to fight infections as antivirals and antibacterials. Other oils will help break up mucus buildup in our lungs and nasal cavities making breathing less laborious. Essential oils high in the chemical component 1,8 cineole, aka Eucalyptol, do both. 1,8 cineole is known for its mucolytic and spasmolytic action on the respiratory tract and is an excellent choice to use during a cold or flu to reduce mucus buildup, pain associated with coughing and relief from headaches. This component is found in Eucalyptus essential oil and Rosemary ct 1,8 cineole to name a few.
How do essential oils help respiratory problems?
  • When you have contracted a cold, the mucus membrane lining of the respiratory system becomes inflamed. The inflammation can narrow the nasal passages and clog our lungs making breathing and the exchange of oxygen into our bloodstream more difficult. Occasionally, secondary infections might develop such as bronchitis or sinus infections. Some essential oils are known infection fighters such as Tea Tree essential oil and others can aid the reduction of inflammation and are natural expectorants, loosening mucus and opening the respiratory passageways such as Eucalyptus.
What is in Common Cold Aid blend essential oil?
  • Common Cold Aid is packed with a fresh citrus and mint aroma, to promote a healthy immune system while fortifying the breath. Eucalyptus leads the pack in Common Cold Aid to open up the breath and is backed by Tea Tree and Peppermint, both of which are incredible antivirals and aid in the reduction of inflammation. Lemon lends a hand with its ability to strengthen the immune system and boost immune reaction. The combination of these oils helps to reduce the severity and time of the common cold so you can get back on track.
What can I diffuse with Common Cold Aid essential oil?
  • Since Common Cold Aid essential oil is already blended to optimize your respiratory health, it is not necessary to add anything to the blend. We love to remember the fact that less is more. It is highly recommended that we should not use more essential oil than necessary to accomplish our goals. If only a drop is needed to achieve it, don't use more than that.
Should I diffuse Common Cold Aid oil or apply it to my skin?
  • We would highly recommend that you try to do both if you are suffering from a cold and having a difficult time breathing. These two options do not necessarily have to happen simultaneously. If you are in a space where you can diffuse Common Cold, refer to the instructions in the diffuser manual for optimizing use. This will bring the essential oil blend into the atmosphere you are breathing from and help to reduce mucus buildup and open up the breath. For on-the-go use, we recommend blending Common Cold Aid with a carrier oil or unscented cream and making a DIY chest and back rub. In a 1 oz pump bottle add 15 drops of Common Cold Aid to a carrier oil such as Jojoba and massage it into the back and chest and use as often as needed.
