Essential Oils For A Romantic Massage

February 08, 2015

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, what could be more enchanting than a massage oil created with essential oils? According to the American Massage Therapy Association, the benefits of massage can include: lowered blood pressure, decreased stress, reduced pain, relief from anxiety and lessened muscular tension. When this wellness modality is combined with all of the wonderful benefits of essential oils, it is a match made in heaven.

Feminine Essential Oils

The following essential oils are excellent options to use alone, diluted in a carrier oil, for a feminine massage oil.

Ylang Ylang

Ylang Ylang is exceptionally floral in aroma, very relaxing and considered to be an aphrodisiac. It has a powerful aroma; only 3-5 drops are needed in 1 ounce of carrier oil for a single massage.

Neroli

This beautiful essential oil has a sweet floral aroma, resulting in a heavenly-scented massage oil that is very soothing to an overworked nervous system. As Neroli’s aroma is also very potent, only 3-5 drops are needed in 1 ounce of the chosen carrier oil.

Rose Absolute Bulgarian

Hands down, this highly-prized essential oil is one of the best aphrodisiacs. Rose is enjoyed for its beautifully heady, deep floral aroma and is symbolic for the expression of love. 1-2 drops are required per 1 ounce of carrier oil.

Jasmine Absolute

Also valued as a renowned aphrodisiac and sexual tonic, Jasmine is very calming to the mind and nervous system. This incredible essential oil has warm, deep floral notes. Use 1-2 drops per 1 ounce of carrier oil.

A Feminine Massage Oil Blend

This recipe is profoundly relaxing and exudes a floral, feminine aroma:

Masculine Essential Oils

Below are great choices for a more masculine massage oil:

Sandalwood Australian

This is a woody, softly balsamic, earthy aroma that is valued for its ability to calm the mind and ground one’s senses. Sandalwood is also utilized as a sexual tonic. To use in a massage oil, add 6-10 drops of Sandalwood in 1 ounce of the chosen carrier oil.

Patchouli

Most are familiar of this aroma, and they either love it or hate it! It is well-known for its aphrodisiac properties as well as its ability to have a synergistic effect (both calming and gently stimulating). A very grounding and intoxicating oil, Patchouli can help one step back into the sensual properties of the body. Only 1-2 drops are needed per 1 ounce of carrier oil.

Vetiver

This warm, smoky, woody oil is very relaxing on a psychological level. It can both gently sedate and restore the senses, while proving to be exceptionally relaxing for an overworked mind. To experience Vetiver’s full therapeutic effect, only 2 drops are needed per 1 ounce of carrier oil.

I started in oils with a kit from Doterra, I really liked them, and can buy whole sale. But they are still really expensive. I inherited a very large kit from Edens Garden from my mother. I have now using them for awhile. And honestly I haven’t seen any difference in the brands, and actually prefer the smell of Edens garden over some of the Doterra oils. Also I can still pay the bills when I am done. Thanks for a great product.
