My favorite woodsy scent

Himalayan cedarwood has become my go-to woodsy scent essential oil—its rich, sweet aroma feels like a comforting hug. I’m continually amazed by how the bark of a tree can create such a warm, inviting fragrance. It reminds me of peaceful moments in nature, bringing a sense of calm and joy to my day every time I catch a hint of it.

Excellent Cedrus Deodara

The scent of Himalayan Cedarwood is hard to describe, though easy to describe what it doesn't smell like; it doesn't smell like cedar shavings or a hamster cage. At all. Instead, it has a lightly camphoraceous top note with warm, sweet and creamy, woody middle notes. Not at all like the other wood essential oils, IMO. I've read that humans have been using oil from the Himalayan Cedar for many, many moons, and it is very well-regarded in terms of potential health benefits. Interestingly, it shares two chemical components with lavender - linalool (helps the immune system deal with stress) and caryophyllene (calming). Used to stimulate hair growth and improve hair luster. Empowering for the lungs, according to aromatherapy literature. This is an oil that ages well, and its scent becomes even sweeter, rounder and warmer the older it gets. This is a wonderful example of Himalayan Cedarwood oil and very, very pleasant on the nose.

Keeps the springtails away

I used to put this in a diffuser occasionally to deter bugs, but this summer I had a bigger issue. I rubbed straight cedarwood oil on my windowsill with a paper towel to keep springtails (that were coming in thru the window cracks) from walking around my bedroom wall and... I was shocked it actually works. I have to keep reapplying every few days but still. I prefer that over any kind of bug sprays, and I don't mind the smell at all. It's nice and woodsy.
