Hey Steph! The company you are referring to is the company I was first introduced to as well. After the party, I was really excited about EOs but there was no way I could afford them. I went online and read everything I could find about essential oils. I found that the greater essential oil community all agrees that ingestion should only be done under the care and supervision of a medical practitioner who has also studied essential oils. Its a very small subset of the community that believes you can treat yourself interally. I believe it is another tactic to make you believe that their oils are superior but it is a dangerous one. After a few days of research, I found Eden’s Gardens and haven’t looked back! I’ve been able to help my sister with her psoriasis, my sister in law with stretch marks due to pregnancy, my dad with panic attacks, my mom’s asthma and arthritis and my own insomnia and bouts of depression. You’ll find that you don’t even think about taking them internally when you start uncovering all the great things that these oils do and all while filling your home with their incrediable aroma! A bonus you only get through diffusing or topical application! If you end up going with EG, you won’t be sorry! I’ve been able to grow a pretty amazing collection for a fraction of what I would have paid anywhere else.

I am new to essential oils. Two co-workers tried to encourage signing up with a popular EO company, but I was taken back by the prices. I just received my first order from you and I am so impressed with the wonderful quality of the oils! Thank you for fair prices and quality products!

Hi Steph! The internal use question is one we get quite often. We put “for external use" on our labeling for our own liability. Pure essential oils are concentrated substances. Because they are so potent, they must be used with caution. Due to this purity we don’t recommend using essential oils internally. The mucous membranes (the skin inside our cheek, for example) is much thinner than the skin on the outside of our body, which allows for more rapid ingestion of essential oils. The risk of adverse reactions increases when used in this way, especially if the essential oil has strong safety concerns. Physical contact of the concentrated essential oils on the mucous membranes can cause immediate irritation, or if used long-term, burns, scarring, ulcers, or even liver or kidney damage. Further, the health of the person, any medications they are taking, and other factors come into play that could cause more serious adverse reactions. We prefer not to recommend using essential oils internally, as we like to err on the side of extreme caution. Please seek a qualified aromatic medicine practitioner if you chose to use essential oils in this manner.

I have a question. I’m very new to EO’s. There is a company that sells oils and it’s very popular company. A lot of customers say they put a drop of this company’s oil in their water. I’ve read here that EG doesn’t suggest ingestion either way although many of your customers do this for health and wellness reasons. The other company does not have “Do Not Ingest” on their bottles because of the high quality of their oils and they feel since they do not add any additives there isn’t a need for this on their bottles. They also have a vitality line for ingestable oils. The oils can be used in cooking, flavoring, etc. Do your bottles have “Do not ingest” on them? And what are your thoughts on this for the EG family? Do you all use the oils in this manner? Thank you for a wonderful website and all the information you provide!

Hi Brenda! We take great pride in offering the highest quality available. All our oils are 100% pure therapeutic grade oils. They are accepted to be used by naturopaths, aromatherapists and natural practitioners. We have chosen to not add any bases, carriers, parafins, additives, etc to any of our oils. No pesticides, synthetic chemicals, herbicides, gmos, harmful chemicals or natural fertilizers are ever used during any stage of the growing or distillation process. All USDA food/product safety guidelines are strictly followed by our suppliers. This is very important to us and something we do not compromise on.

We do GC/MS (gas chromatography/ mass spectrometry) tests on each of our oils, which can be found on our website under “Reports,” on our single oil’s product pages. This will give the breakdown of the naturally occurring components found in any given oil.
