Essential Oils For Kids: A Guide To Our OK For Kids Collection

OK For Kids just turned 2! This groundbreaking line has been a huge hit since its inception and has allowed both kids and adults to enjoy the natural benefits of essential oils, safely. Always 100% pure, and never adulterated, these essential oil blends are bottled with your little ones in mind.

What is OK For Kids?

OK For Kids is a collection of 18 synergy blends that only include essential oils that are safe for children 2+.  Expertly formulated by aromatherapist, Sylla Sheppard-Hanger and essential oil chemist, Dr. Robert Pappas, each blend ( like the super popular Sleepy Head and Healthy Hero) addresses the most common needs of parents and children.

 OK For Adults Too

To be clear, the OK For Kids blends are NOT less effective or potent than our synergy blends (which adults generally use). Our Ok For Kids line is not like children's Tylenol. Children's medicine is generally formulated for someone of a smaller size, weight, etc. but our OK For Kids blends can be just as effective for adults as a traditional synergy blend. The only difference between the two lines is that the OK For Kids line doesn't include oils that are known to cause sensitivity in children.

Interestingly, many adults find the OK For Kids line more effective for them because of their own unique chemical makeup. Many of the OK For Kids blends include less common single oils that may work better for your body. If our relaxing synergy blends are not having the desired effect, try Calm 'Em Down or Sound Asleep

1% Dilution vs Roll-On Dilutions

We often get asked why the OK For Kids roll-ons are less diluted than the 1% dilution rate that is generally recommended for children. Aromatherapist, Sylla Sheppard-Hanger has explained that the higher dilution rate is imperative to aroma and effectiveness. One percent is fine for full body, but roll-ons are meant for spot treatment. Spot treatment means using on a local area, say the temples for a headache. The roll-ons are not meant to be used for the full body. When used for spot treatment, the OK For Kids roll-ons are safe to be used on children, daily.

Why Kids Ages 2+?

Can you use the OK For Kids blends on children younger than two or on infants? We recommend you ask your child’s pediatrician and an aromatherapist who can provide you with safe and effective guidelines for using essential oils, that meet your child’s needs. It is also recommended to work with your child’s pediatrician and an aromatherapist if your child has special medical needs. Children younger than two are much more sensitive to essential oils, and thus, we want to err on the side of extreme caution when it comes to the littlest of ones.

Hi Barbara! Doctors are finding that teaching children how to manage their emotions is key to their development. Along with encouraging them to take deep breaths and work through their emotions, we suggest having them inhale Bee Happy or Calm ’Em Down for mood balance. Feel free to reach out to us for further assistance!

I have a 2 yr old grand son who throws tantrums a lot then throws his toys. I m pretty sure he has some anxiety issues. Which oils blend would be best. I don’t want him sleeping all the time. Just happy and playing.

Hi Leslie! Most essential oils not recommended to be used around young children can be used around children 5+ when following safe EO guidelines.

At what age can you transition from OK for Kids to ones listed not to be used around children?
