Why We Created Ask An Aromatherapist®
When I first discovered aromatherapy, I remember feeling like I was standing at the beginning of a long path without a map. Every new bottle brought excitement, but also questions. How much should I dilute? Can these oils be blended together? Which Essential Oils are appropriate for my needs?
As Edens Garden's Lead Aromatherapist, I've spent years studying Essential Oils and helping others navigate those same questions. One thing has remained constant: everyone benefits from having a trusted expert to turn to.
That's the inspiration behind Ask An Aromatherapist®. We wanted to create a place where our customers could receive dependable, science-informed aromatherapy education from professionals who are passionate about Essential Oils.

Hi Anna! There are no known contraindications between essential oils and Benepali. There may be contraindications between essential oils and certain blood pressure and antidepressant medications, but I would need to know which ones to confirm. You are welcome to email me if you have more questions at aaa@edensgarden.com.
Anna Turney-Easton
Hello Bella,
I am training in aromatherapy, and have a case study client who is taking the immuno suppressant Benepali. Are there any known contraindicated essential oils for this medication that you know of? I am using the oils for foot reflexology, so the number of drops per treatment is a maximum of 5 in 10 mls carrier oil.
I am also researching contraindications for antidepressants, and high blood pressure medication, please could you help direct me with this also?
Thanks so much,
Anna x

Hi Elizabeth! Yes, Citronella does contain the most significant amount of geraniol, as well as oils like Geranium and Lemongrass. You can view how much of a compound is found in an oil on their GC/MS reports found on their product pages.
Elizabeth
I hope you can help me find an essential oil you carry with the greatest amount of geraniol as an ingredient. I understand it is in citronella, oil-of-rose and one other.

Hi Lynn, we recommend diluting and applying either Skin Love Blend or Geranium- Egyptian oil. Both these oils have the ability to get rid of dark spots and scars.

Hi Bella: I have used essential oils to try to improve my face’s complexion at no avail. Instead, when I have applied to my face, recommended EOs diluted with a carrier oil good for the skin, they have made my face worse and break out more, Do you have any recommendations as to an essential oil blend that may possibly work for me? I am an Edens Garden member and have purchased many of their EOs, since I love them. Thank you!

Hello. I make melt and pour soap (Goat milk base) and have been using fragrance oil. I would like to try essential oils but not sure of the safe dilution rates. Is there a place to find this for each oil? Thanks!
