Ask An Aromatherapist

Ask An Aromatherapist

It’s been a long time since I began my essential oil journey, but I still remember what it was like starting at square one. It was like staring down a dark hallway, not knowing how far it stretched and unsure if taking a step forward meant tripping over something. As the lead aromatherapist at Edens Garden, I’ve come a long way but know there are many still on the dock waiting to embark on their aromatherapy voyage.

Whether you know nothing, a little or a lot about aromatherapy, we all need someone to assist us when learning about essential oils. This was our mindset when creating the Ask An Aromatherapist email (aaa@edensgarden.com). It is a direct way to ask in-depth aromatherapy questions and receive personalized answers. Have a question on dilution rates? Trying to find out which oils are best for inflammation? Need to know which oils are safe for pregnancy? The answers to aromatherapy’s tough questions are now an email away.

In a seemingly endless sea of essential oil misinformation, it is our goal to provide dependable, accurate information so that you can get the most out of the natural, healing abilities that essential oils offer.

- Bella Martinez, Edens Garden’s Lead Aromatherapist

*Please note that we will be answering questions on personalized ways to use the essential oils on a case-by-case basis. For specific medical questions and individual recommendations, please consult with your doctor andan aromatherapy service.

Hi Susan! Essential oils are natural products, meaning aroma, color, texture, etc. can vary due to factors that occur in farming. Factors include sunshine, rainfall, pH of soil, etc. We do not do anything to our oils to alter their aromas or make them uniform from batch-to-batch, in any way.

Hi Debra! That’s a broad question, of which we’d have to answer no. We don’t believe that there is anyone immune to the myriad of benefits essential oils have to offer. We’re sorry to hear that EOs haven’t benefited you in the ways that you’re seeking. Hi, I’ve been using eo for about 2 years now. I have quite a lot of them. I have tried using them for pain management and insomnia. I try many different recipes posted from sites. I don’t seem to notice any difference in my pain or insomnia getting better when I use them. Are there some people that no matter what are not going to get true benefits from using essential oils?

Hi Muriel! For neuropathy, we recommend working with your doctor and an aromatherapist who can provide you with safe guidelines that meet your individual needs.

For thicker hair, try this recipe -

12 drops Rosemary Spanish essential oil
6 drops Coffee essential oil
1 oz Rosehip carrier oil
1 tbsp Coffee grounds

To make, put the coffee grounds in a clean stocking or sieve and allow it to soak in the Rosehip oil overnight or for 2-3 days. Caffeine is said to promote hair growth, and making a coffee-infused Rosehip oil will help to extract some of the caffeine. Then add the Rosemary and Coffee essential oils. Transfer to a 1 oz empty bottle and shake gently to combine.

Add a few drops to your fingertips and massage the serum into the scalp. This is best done after showering and at night.
