How An In Nature Blend Is Born: Inside Grace’s Creative Process
Erin Sweeney
The story of Edens Garden’s In Nature essential oil blends begins with Grace Martin and three words: “Aromas From Nature.”
Grace was thinking about new ideas for Edens Garden that could bless people when the phrase came to her. It captured something she wanted to share: the beauty of nature’s aromas, made part of everyday life. Creating something that could bless others brought her joy, and the idea became a collection she is proud to share.
That intention stayed with our founder through the development of In Nature. From the first aromatic ideas to the final adjustments, Grace helped shape the collection at every step. Here’s a closer look at the trials, the diffusing, and the discerning nose behind it all.

Turning Grace’s Inspiration Into an Aroma
An idea like “Aromas From Nature” gives a collection its direction. Creating each blend means translating that inspiration into something you can actually smell.
For In Nature, that meant exploring warm woods, earthy depth, soft sweetness, and the many ways those qualities could come together. Grace’s vision gave the formulation team a starting point, while her feedback helped guide the character of each aroma as it developed.
Each ingredient brings something different to a blend. One may make a bright first impression; another adds warmth or a note that lingers. Finding the right balance takes testing, a willingness to make changes, and someone who can recognize when the aroma is getting closer to the original idea.

Test, Diffuse, Adjust, Repeat
With an initial formula in hand, Grace and the formulation team begin evaluating variations. They compare proportions, consider how the notes work together, and use that feedback to guide the next version.
Sometimes the adjustment is small: less of a note that dominates, a little more of one that needs room to come through. Even a subtle change can shift the character of the whole blend.
Diffusing is part of that evaluation, too. An essential oil blend can smell different in the bottle than it does dispersed through a room. Diffusion trials help the team experience the aroma beyond that first impression and consider how its notes come together in the air.
Then the process continues: feedback, an adjustment, another trial. Grace’s intention remains the reference point as the team works toward the aroma she envisioned.
The Secret Sauce: Grace’s Nose
Every formula crosses Grace’s desk. Her years of working with essential oils have given her a practiced sense of smell, and In Nature draws on that experience throughout development.
Her feedback helps the team recognize where a blend needs more refinement, even when it is already close. She pays attention to the small differences that change the overall impression and helps guide the adjustments that follow.
That is the secret sauce behind In Nature: Grace’s ability to hold the original inspiration in mind while noticing the details of the aroma in front of her. The team brings its formulation expertise; Grace brings the vision and the nose that help give the collection its character.

Santal, in Grace’s Words
Santal offers a glimpse of what excites Grace about the collection. Its woodsy depth and soft sweetness bring a distinctive character to the finished blend. Her own description says it best:
“Santal is the most divine aroma. It is so sophisticated, fresh, and innovative.”
