How To Neutralize Pet Odors With Essential Oils

Any pet owner knows that the best part of coming home is seeing the sweet face of your furry friend. But sometimes that feeling of elation is tainted by the odor they can leave behind. Whether your cute creature had an accident or the odor is a symptom of general stuffiness, you need to do something to neutralize that unpleasant smell. Luckily, you already have the answer: essential oils. But just which EOs can make a happy-smelling home for you, your family and, yes, even your pet? Allow us to break it down — unwanted odors, that is.

We recommend reaching for something that is aromatically powerful and pleasing. Some single oils that fall into this category, for us, are Cinnamon Leaf, Moroccan Rosemary, Clove Bud, Eucalyptus Globulus, and Eucalyptus Radiata. Diffusing them at your leisure, but, please, remember that your pet should be in a different room when this happens. For more on just why this is the case, read more here.

Odor Hack: All of the above EOs can be found in our brand-new Fighting Five Room Spray.

If you’re someone that leans towards more mellow aromas, there’s no shortage of options. Reach for Lavender, Sweet Marjoram, Chamomile, Bergamot, Ylang Ylang, and Sandalwood if you’re into these more soothing notes that can also neutralize poor odors.

Odor Hack: If you love all the above EOs, you might want to grab the newly released Good Night Room Spray, as they’re all ingredients.

We’ve covered lively notes and more subdued notes, but how about a blend of the two? Think about diffusing a blend of Sweet Orange, Ylang Ylang, and Lemongrass to ease the lingering pet odor.

Odor Hack: If you love the aforementioned diffuser blend, then you’ll probably love our Anxiety Ease Room Spray, which is formulated with all of these ingredients.

We hope these tips and hacks keep your home smelling pawsatively great!

Hi Kari! Yes, This can be sprayed on the carpet if pets are not present. We recommend testing the spray on an inconspicuous area of carpet before using copiously to ensure the spray doesn’t stain the carpet.

Can the fighting five room spray be sprayed on your carpet to get those odors out (as long as the pets aren’t in the room)?

Kari
