Description

Meet your new wellness companion in Edens Garden's Angelica Root essential oil. Just like a supportive best friend, this oil empowers you to manage everyday stress with its energizing and complex aroma. Known for its green-herbal-spicy scent with hints of terpenic, Angelica Root essential oil rejuvenates both body and mind.

Historically, Angelica Root was a prized spice plant exported to Asia and valued for its high yield as a flavoring agent and apothecary drug. During the Victorian era, its leaves were savored in tea, and its stems turned into sweet treats. More than just a culinary delight, Angelica Root, also known as the "Root of the Holy Ghost," was believed to ward off negativity during the Middle Ages.

This grounding and relaxing essential oil, hailing from Europe, is derived from a plant that grows up to six feet tall and boasts beautiful clusters of pale green flowers. The essential oil, extracted through steam distillation from either seeds or roots, adds a musky note to perfume and a delicate spiciness to massage oils. Keep in mind that Angelica Root essential oil is photosensitizing, so use it in small proportions and avoid sun exposure.

For a stress-busting DIY, try combining a few drops of Angelica Root essential oil with your favorite carrier oil and gently massage onto your pulse points. Or, add a few drops to your diffuser to fill your space with its empowering aroma. Remember to use it safely, keeping sun warnings in mind. Let Edens Garden's Angelica Root essential oil be your daily dose of empowerment and relaxation.

How to use Angelica Root essential oil?
  • There are several ways to effectively use Angelica Root essential oil and obtain its benefits, including 1.) Add 10 drops to your essential oil diffuser per 100 ml of water. 2.) Dilute 5 drops per 1 ounce of carrier oil and use in a skin-nourishing massage. 3.) Add 4 drops to 1 ounce of carrier oil and 1 ounce of Epsom salt for added magnesium absorption. Add the mixture to your bath and soak up the goodness. 4.) Add 10 drops to an Essential Oil Inhaler and take it with you for on-the-go therapeutic use.
What is Angelica Root essential oil used for?
  • For centuries, the Angelica Root has been promoted to help manage the stress of daily life. Incredibly complex, Angelica Root essential oil invites fresh energy to the body and brain. In this way, it can boost a professional massage and mitigate stress and frustration. When diluted and applied to occasional skin irritations, Angelica Root soothes and nourishes. To assist with stress, Angelica Root is best inhaled using an essential oil diffuser.
What does Angelica Root essential oil smell like?
  • Angelica Root has a strong green-herbal-spicy, somewhat terpenic aroma with other complex nuances. In perfumery, it is described as warm, mapley and slightly sweet. It blends exceptionally well with Mandarin, Patchouli, Clary Sage, Vetiver, citruses and oriental bases. Our experts often use Angelica Root in warm, fall blends to create a cozy atmosphere. A favorite DIY perfume essential oil blend amongst our Edens Garden family is a mixture of 14 drops Rose Absolute, 6 drops Sandalwood East Indian, 3 drops Bergamot, 3 drops Jasmine Absolute, 2 drops Angelica Root, 1 drop Peru Balsam and 1 drop Vanilla Oleoresin Absolute.
Is Angelica Root essential oil phototoxic?
  • Certain essential oils contain natural components known as furanocoumarins. This is more common in citrus essential oils but does occur in other oils as well such as Angelica Root. Furanocoumarins cause essential oils to be phototoxic, meaning the oil can cause burns and skin irritation if sun and UV light exposure occurs. Most essential oils are not phototoxic, but it is important to check an oil’s safety information on its product page or label before using it topically to ensure that it’s safe to be worn. This also applies to essential oil blends containing phototoxic oils.
Why does Angelica Root essential oil have a maximum recommended dilution rate?
  • Certain essential oils, including Angelica Root, require specific precautions that go beyond generalized recommended dilution rates. These oils are given a “max dilution rate” as they can contain potent skin allergens or constituents that are detrimental in concentrations above the max dilution. Angelica Root can cause a phototoxic reaction if used above its recommended max dilution rate and worn topically in the sun. However, it can safely and effectively be used when diluted at or below 0.8% dilution.
