5 Essential and Carrier Oils for Beautiful Skin

5 Essential and Carrier Oils for Beautiful Skin

By using essential oils for your skincare, you won’t have to worry about the ill effects of preservatives or parabens because you are using something that is freshly harvested from the earth. Here are 5 great essential oils and carrier oils that provide various benefits for your skin. There are so many more essential oils with positive properties for your skin. Tell us your favorite oil for your use on your skin in the comments section!

1. Evening Primrose (Carrier Oil):

Abundant in GLA essential fatty acids, Evening Primrose nourishes mature or dry skin as it balances everything from hormones to weight issues. For ages, Evening Primrose has been utilized for its smoothing qualities. Not only can it replenish the skin, but it can also actually prevent the skin from showing signs of damage and wrinkles. Evening Primrose has a very faint aroma with light notes of sweetness.

2. Jojoba (Carrier Oil)

A common misconception about carrier oils is that they can leave the skin feeling greasy or oily. The truth is that most actually restores the skin’s natural sebum balance and rid the skin of oily ickiness. Jojoba mimics the skin’s natural oil levels so that your skin can remain healthy and vibrant. If you are struggling at skin extremes, dry and itchy or greasy and uncomfortable, Jojoba can help your skin find the proper medium. Its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties can help fight back against dandruff, dry skin, acne and wrinkles. Overflowing with vitamins B and E, Jojoba can help brighten dark spots and minimize the appearance of pores.

3. Frankincense-Carterii (Essential Oil)

As we grow older, our skin can start to show a little wear and tear. Sun damage or scars can add up leading to a less than ideal derma. Please don’t misunderstand us, Edens Garden hopes you love your unique “imperfections” and treasure your facial character. We also understand that dry skin can be frustrating. Frankincense-Carterii acts as a natural application to look and feel fresh. It helps the skin and blends fabulously well with Rose and Lavender. Not only does Frankincense-Carterii help heal smooth skin, but it also has an earthy and sweet aroma that can calm the body and tense emotions. Many aromatherapists recommend Frankincense-Carterii.

4. Grapeseed (Carrier Oil)

Grapeseed’s biggest fans are often those with sensitive skin. Its natural composition is incredibly gentle on the skin as it tightens and tones. If you have trouble finding a carrier oil or even a moisturizer moderate enough for your skin, Grapeseed might be your answer. Used in a variety of high-end lotions, sunscreens and fancy face creams, Grapeseed is rich with vitamin E and other nutrients. It actively combats acne and itchy eczema while also helping to fade the appearance of sun damage and deep wrinkles. Working on the cellular level, Grapeseed’s antioxidant properties protect against tissue damage. Grapeseed is incredibly powerful, yet remarkably gentle.

5. Patchouli (Essential Oil)

Achieving smooth and healthy skin can be a tiresome journey when faced only with a row of drugstore options. Turn to something pure and natural to help skin with Patchouli. It has a balsamic, musky, woody, and wine-like aroma.

Patchouli has been used for centuries in Chinese, Ayurvedic and Greek medicines for its ability to heal numerous skin disorders and scar tissue. This all in one oil is great in blends for skin conditions, such as dryness, inflammation, scars, eczema, and wounds. On top of that, it is both skin moisturizing and cooling, and repels insects, making this oil a great choice for summer skincare.

Hi Barbara! Evening Primrose, Jojoba and Grapeseed are carrier oils. Frankincense carterii and Patchouli are essential oils. A carrier oils is needed to dilute the essential oils. I would suggest the following mixture using some of the above recommendations –

1 oz Jojoba, Evening Primrose or Grapeseed
3 drops Frankincense
3 drops Patchouli

Combine the above mixture, transfer to a container and apply to dry, itchy skin.

I have dry, flaky, itchy skin that is driving me crazy! Also, have rosacea. Under the section 5 Essential and Carrier Oils, are they all carrier oils? Do I have to have a carrier oil or will I be able to use an essential oil as a carrier oil??? There are some items in my cart, but hesitate to place the order until I understand the difference. Perhaps you could view the cart and tell me if I’ve made the right selections for my problem. Thanks for your help.

I’m thinking due to the taking of hormone replacement that my really oily skin & breakouts are caused by them. Can you recommend any of your oils that can combat some of the oiliness?

Hi Jenny! We’d recommend using quick absorbing, non-greasy carrier oils like Jojoba, Apricot Kernel, Camellia Seed and Sesame. These oils have a “dry” feel, in that they absorb quickly and have a satiny finish.

Love reading this. Researching now, knowing there are many products on the market for creams to combat wrinkles/fine lines and skin issues. I really don’t want to have to expense into skincare products, hence this is more intriguing. Question though, you mention under Jojoba Oil that that oil works well in balancing your skin type whether oily or dry. I have oily t-zone. Would any of the carrier oils work well or should I stay with Jojoba Oil? I have been currently using Argon oil with your Age Defying, and not sure if that seems to keep my t-zone oily or not. Want to find something to combat wrinkles (especially on my forehead), yet not become oily throughout the day. Thank you.
