Hi DeDe! We have not tried using these as substitutes, but think it’s worth a shot. Let us know how it goes!

Have you tried other combinations? Would it work if I used Tapioca starch instead of cornstarch? I prefer to stay away from wheat flour so ould Oat flour or Almond flour work? I can’t use Rosemary EO, is there a reason for that oil specifically or could I use Frankincense, Sandalwood or Lavender? Thank you!

Hi Amber! Magnesium chloride would not work the same as magnesium carbonate. Magnesium carbonate works to dry the scalp and absorb any excess oil. You can make this recipe without magnesium carbonate, but we like the dry shampoo with it added.

What purpose does the magnesium carbonate serve in this recipe? I have all of the other ingredients for this recipe, but I only have magnesium chloride on hand. Could I use that in the place of the carbonate?
