Hi Anusha! You can use a different type of wax such as carnauba or candelilla. You can also try the following recipe, however, it may be too soft without wax – 3 tbsp cocoa butter + 2 tbsp virgin Coconut oil + 5 drops of EO

Is there a replacement for wax in the lip balm? How can we know if the wax is natural and of good quality? I would prefer using affordable ingredients and most of the claimed natural bees wax are very expensive. Thank you for your help.

Grating out a nice, even 2 T. of shea butter is a lot of work. Do you have the equivalents in grams or ounces? Something that I can measure using my digital scale, rather than a measuring spoon? I figured that it wouldn’t hurt to ask. Thank you for sharing this recipe!!

I love making homemade lip balms! One of my favorite blends is grapefruit and ylang ylang. It smells a little bit like Juicy Fruit gum.

Hi Michelle! This recipe makes 2.5 oz of lip balm. Vanilla oleoresin and vanilla absolute are typically solvent extracted using different solvents. Vanilla oleoresin is more viscous and less expensive than the absolute.
