Start The New Year Right With This 3-Step Facial

Start The New Year Right With This 3-Step Facial

Like most people, you've crafted some serious resolutions with each new year. And if you’re like most people, you’ve also fallen short of at least a few of these resolutions. The solution? Set achievable, less daunting goals this year. Like implementing this amazing three-step facial into your life. This facial is proving that small changes can lead to big results and that the best things in life really do come in threes.

Steam

The first step is to prep your skin for the coming attractions, and the best way to do that is with a good, clean steam. Steaming helps open up pores, allowing burrowed gunk to easily be removed and allowing forbetter penetration of skincare products. The vaporized water that makes up steam also helps to hydrate skin and promotes circulation. Adding humectant essential oils such as Turmeric to your steam further works to draw moisture to the skin.

After washing your face and removing any makeup, simmer about 2-4 cups of distilled water in a pot. Transfer the water to a bowl and add 1 drop of Turmeric oil per 2 cups of water. Closing your eyes, place your face over the bowl and cover your head and the bowl with a towel to lock in the steam. Steam for 5-10 minutes before moving onto your next step.

Mask

Next, create a clean slate with a purifying facial mask. For our mask base, we chose activated charcoal and bentonite clay. These natural powerhouses draw out toxins and impurities that can wreak havoc on our skin. Then we included nourishing and soothing Rosehip carrier oil and more skin-loving humectants: Turmeric essential oil. Lastly, we sprinkled in anti-inflammatory and exfoliating apple cider vinegar. Together, these ingredients are an unstoppable force against skin impurities and imperfections.

What You Need:

½ tbsp Activated charcoal

½ tbsp Bentonite clay

1 tsp.  Rosehip carrier oil

1 drop  Turmeric essential oil

1 drop  Lavender essential oil (any)

1 ½ tsp. Apple cider vinegar

How To:

Whisk together activated charcoal and bentonite clay until evenly combined. In a separate bowl, combine Rosehip, Turmeric oil. Then combine all ingredients. Apply an even coat to your face, avoiding the mouth and eyes. Let sit for 10 minutes before wiping away with a damp, clean cloth. Note, if you can’t stand the aroma of vinegar, you could use water as a substitute.

Moisturize

The final step in our three-step facial is a simple, natural moisturizer made with 1 oz of  Camellia Seed oil and 6 drops ofAge Defy. Camellia Seed is a versatile carrier oil, suitable for all skin types and offering numerous benefits. With its ability to regenerate skin cells and enhance the appearance of tightened skin, Camellia Seed is particularly beneficial for mature skin. Those who appreciate a less-oily, easily-absorbed carrier oil will love Camellia Seed. What’s more, our aptly named Age Defy synergy blend’s soaring reviews speak to this blends efficacy in the mature skin department as well. Formulated to go above and beyond in reinvigorating and restoring the appearance of skin, Age Defy makes this moisturizer the cherry on top of a premium at-home facial.

Hi JD! Turmeric is non-irritating when used at a proper dilution and is safe to use as instructed in this blog. We do recommend performing a skin patch test before using essential oils in skincare to ensure you are not sensitive or allergic to the oil you plan to use.

Just curious, isn’t tumeric classified as a “hot” oil and has the potential to burn your skin? I am a more concerned about adding it to the steam bath. Wouldn’t it irritate the lining of your mouth, nose and lungs?
