Upgrade Your Haircare Routine With These Essential Oils

The ‘do. The locks. The mane. Whatever you call your hair, it’s important. Whether you fuss with it for two minutes or two hours, your hair is out there for all to see. Even if you’re someone that has neither the time nor inclination to spend much energy messing with your hair, there is an easy way to give your hair a lock up on looking its best. Surprise, it’s essential oils! Join us as we explore the EOs that are go-to's for your hairdo.

Tea Tree: This essential oil is a fungus fighter that battles dandruff like a silent knight in shining armor. At a concentration of 5%, Tea Tree is an active ingredient that fights fungus, which would be accomplished by adding 30 drops of Tea Tree to 1 oz of shampoo. Remember to rinse thoroughly after massaging it into your hair and scalp.

Rosemary Spanish: One of the finest EOs to mix with your shampoo, Rosemary Spanish is known for promoting hair growth and diminishing dandruff. Reap the benefits Spanish Rosemary offers by adding 6 drops per 1 oz of shampoo and massage it into your scalp before working it down to your ends.

Lavender: While Lavender is known for its ability to soothe your mind, did you know it can also soothe your scalp? It’s true. When stress descends, your hair can begin to thin. But not to worry, as Lavender’s natural sedative properties have been known to ease the effects of stress and, therefore, help your hair maintain its strength. For a first-rate defense against stress, combine 36 drops of Lavender, 36 drops of Rosemary Spanish, 24 drops of Clary Sage and 1 cup of unscented shampoo. Or you also have the option to use our Healthy Scalp blend. Once you’ve done this, massage into your scalp and rinse thoroughly.

Cedarwood Atlas: This essential oil is a known hair-growth stimulant, working to increase circulation along your scalp. In addition, Cedarwood Atlas also reduces flaking and strengthens existing hair. We recommend adding 3 drops of Cedarwood Atlas and 3 drops of Tea Tree for every 1 oz of shampoo or using our specially designed Hair Love blend. It’s just the boost your scalp needs!

Peppermint: An effective promoter of hair growth, Peppermint is oftentimes more effective than saline, jojoba and minoxidil (a medication that specifically treats hair loss). If that doesn’t sell you on the benefits of Peppermint, research has shown that it can increase scalp thickness and the proliferation of hair follicles.

Basil: Bring Basil out of the kitchen and incorporate it into your bathing routine. If you’re tired of split ends, this essential oil is your new best friend. Add 3 drops of Basil and 3 drops of Rosemary Spanish to 1 oz of shampoo. Once you’ve done this, massage this mixture into your scalp before rinsing thoroughly.

Coconut Oil: One of the most commonly used carrier oils for a reason, Coconut is packed with nutrients along with many other benefits. One of which is preventing abrasive hair damage. Prolonged use of Coconut can lead to healthier, longer hair. It can also prompt speedier hair growth. You might think to yourself, “If there anything Coconut can’t do?”
