Pet Safety: Essential oils are generally safe to diffuse around adult cats and dogs intermittently. Ensure the room you’re diffusing in is well-ventilated and that your pet can leave if desired. Discontinue use if you notice any adverse reaction. Avoid topical use and diffusing around young pets, small animals or pets with health problems.

Its aroma helps to create a serene atmosphere with aromatic hints of the forest and the majestic woods to melt away stress and worry. It is for men and women alike as they search for the warmth of home with its ability to create a sweet, earthen woodsiness of an outdoor environment.
- Tonka bean essential oil is made as an absolute from the bean of the Tonka tree which grows in South America and West Africa. The bean, taken from the fruit is dried and then soaked in alcohol for 12-24 hours and then dried where coumarin crystallizes on them. They are then pulverized and solvent extracted to make the absolute essential oil.
- Tonka Bean essential oil is safe for topical use when used in correct dilutions. This oil can be a skin irritant if used undiluted. Tonka Bean oil contains naturally occurring coumarin which has a maximum daily dose is 71 mg, but according to Robert Tisserand’s book Essential Oil Safety, it is not contraindicated for topical use. However, it is contraindicated for oral use and coumarin was banned by the FDA in 1954 for use in food.
- Tonka & Wood essential oil is a middle note to base note blend that has an aroma that is quite complex but on the whole is balsamic, warm, summery and sweet with hints of sheer musk and sweet vanilla bean. It has an earthiness and forest-like aromatic with the addition of the Fir oils that lend it its woodsy aromatics but also carries hints of Black Pepper and Peppermint with the deeper notes of Tobacco and Cedarwood as well as sweet remnants of its Jasmine and Geranium florals.
- Tonka & Wood goes well blended into DIY projects such as candles and soaps as well as made into a beard oil. If making it into a topical product, be sure to follow our dilution rate guide for blending into a carrier or unscented cream. Other ideas are to use it in a diffuser (10 drops per 100 ml of water) or blended into a bath with 2 cups of Epsom Salts and 2 tbsp of Castile soap when unwinding at the end of a long day.
